First woman to dive 50 states

Jennifer Idol became the first woman to dive the 50 states. She flew over the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010 and was moved to raise awareness for local waters through her underwater photography and diving skills. She determined that a journey to document and dive all 50 states would help show how our national underwater world is a treasure that we should care for and protect.

In 2011, she set out on the first steps of her journey. Since this Texas diver’s first dive 20 years ago, she has become a technical diver, PADI instructor, and underwater photographer. She helps others understand the underwater world through her photography, design, and by sharing her exploration.

As seen in DIVER magazine and Diving Alamanac.

Quest completed!

In 2011, I set out to dive all 50 states so that I could raise awareness of our country's beautiful underwater world. This journey has transformed how I see our ecology, how I take photos, and my goals and future projects. I complete this journey in 2015 and look forward to sharing the story with you in my book, on Facebook, and in presentations.

Suggest new dive locations.

When I travel, I meet people who have great suggestions for places to dive that are meaningful to them. I try to add these ideas to my list of upcoming dive expeditions. Since I can't meet everyone and I don't always know how to find all those places, I wanted to create a place where you can share your meaningful dive location suggestions.
